The Project

Driving Question: What do our favourite foods from Australia and Asia tell us about the people in our school?

Overview: What do I need to do in this project?

Our Food Survey Project!

What's the project about?

We are going to explore the favourite foods, snacks, or drinks of people in our school community, like your classmates, teachers, cleaners, librarians, and even your family!

What will we do?

  • Choose up 3 Asian countries and conduct online research on their food, snacks or drinks.
  • Plan and make a survey to find out what foods people like most.
  • Ask at least 10 people to complete your survey.
    • 3 of them must be adults (like teachers or family members).
  • Collect and record your data (the answers people give).
  • Show your data using digital graphs, charts, or tables on the computer.
  • Compare different ways to show your results (for example, a bar graph vs a pie chart).
  • Work with others to make a final digital presentation that explains what you found out.

You can choose to explore:

  • Foods or meals 🍝
  • Snacks 🍫
  • Drinks πŸ§ƒ

(Just make sure the people you ask know what you’re talking about!)

How long do we have?

This project goes for 6 weeks and is due on Monday, December 2nd.

Do I do this alone or in a group?

This is a group project. A max of 4 per group is allowed.

πŸ’‘ You will need:

  • A device (laptop or iPad) to create your digital graphs and presentation
  • Your survey questions (approved by your teacher before you start!)
  • A place to record your results (Google Form, paper tally sheet, etc.)

🧠 Extra tips:

  • Ask clear, polite questions when doing your survey.
  • Check your spelling and labels on your graphs.
  • Think about what makes food popular β€” is it taste, culture, or something else?
